Corkscrew Swamp - East Naples Florida
Fifteen Miles Northeast of Naples lies the Corkscrew Swamp - referred to as 'the crown jewel of the Audubon Society's nature preserves. A 2.25 mile raised boardwalk meanders through six native and distinct habitats. From pine flatwoods, wet planes, marsh, lettuce lakes, bald and pond cypress heads - the visitor sees it all. Waterfowl, alligators, squirrels, birds of prey and countless smaller feathered species abound. Plant life is so typical of Florida wetland marsh and cypress woods. A myriad of insect species are also present. All this, combined with an azure blue sky and brilliant white clouds above made for a wonderful walk through the Corkscrew Swamp - PS: Bring your bug spray, Deer Flies are a real menace!Read More
